Caramel Covered Pretzels

If you think caramel apples are yummy in the Fall, you should try these caramel covered pretzels! They're made using very simple ingredients, and can be put together in no time at all.

Caramel Covered Pretzels

I made these as Thanksgiving party favors to hand our guests at they were leaving, and they were a big hit! These pretzels also make great appetizers and look beautiful sitting on a dinner plate or placed in a glass near the Thanksgiving dinner plates.

Items You'll Need:

  • 15 Pretzel Rods
  • 1 Package (14 oz) Caramel Candies, Unwrapped
  • 1 TBSP Water
  • Fall Sprinkles
  • Crushed Peanuts
  • Clear Treat Bags
  • Fall Ribbon


1. In a microwave safe bowl, combine the caramel candies and water (you may have to play with the amount of water a bit...if you put too much, it gets runny, and if you don't use enough, it's too hard to dip the pretzels into). Microwave for 2- 2 1/2 minutes, or until smooth. Be sure to stir after each minute to check consistency.

2. Dip pretzel rods into the caramel about 3/4 of the way down. Spread smooth with the back of a spoon if needed.

3. Before the caramel sets, roll the covered pretzels in fall sprinkles and crushed peanuts. Place the completed rods on a piece of wax paper to harden.

* If the caramel starts to set before you're finished, you can add about 1/2 TBSP of water and microwave for 30 seconds. Only do this once or twice, though, or the caramel will be ruined.

4. Place decorated pretzels into clear treat bags, and top with a festive fall ribbon.
