Get Well Gift Ideas

Being sick stinks.

These get well gift ideas are great for anyone who is in the hospital or laying around at home. Show them how much you care by putting one of these creative gifts together.

  • Get Well Gift Basket
Use a gift basket to put "get well" items in (chicken soup, aspirin, tea, cough drops, bandages, vitamins, etc.)

  • Boredom Buster
When you're in bed sick, it can get pretty boring. Purchase (or lend) books, magazines, puzzle books, stationary, dvd's, board games, computer games, or hand-craft items (knitting, embroidery, cross stitch, etc.) and put put them in a basket or stack them and tie them up with a ribbon.

  • Make Them Comfortable
Buy things that will make them feel relaxed and comfy...a pair of slippers, new pajamas, a houserobe, or a cozy blanket would be perfect!

  • Look Forward to "Well Time"
Give them something to look forward to after they're feeling better--a gift certificate for a round of golf, a few games of bowling, tickets to the movies, a concert or a theme park--whatever it is they enjoy doing when they're feeling well.

  • Flowers
Pep up the room they're recovering in with a dose of fresh flowers.

  • Fruit Basket
Help build their immune system using the healthy benefits of fruit. To get a little more creative with this idea, try making an edible fruit bouquet that both looks and tastes great!

  • Movie Package
For those recovering from a surgery or other medical issue that does not affect their appetite or diet, create a movie package. Fill an unpopped popcorn tub or popcorn bowl with drinks, snacks, microwave popcorn, seasoning salts, and a DVD (or a gift certificate to a movie rental store--with a note that says you'll pick it up for them).

  • Art Kit
This is a great get well gift for a child. Fill a gift bag or other container with pencils, crayons, markers, paper (both construction and drawing), stickers, scissors, glue, stencils---whatever art supplies you can find. Other great add-on gifts would be a lap desk or how-to-draw books.
