When I first discovered how to make bath salts, I couldn't believe how easy it was! I'd been buying them for years, and had no idea how simple it would have been to just make my own bath salts.
Since then, I've been making them as simple gifts to give for Valentine's Day, Mother's Day, and as teacher's gifts. Everyone loves to receive a little luxury! You can make bath salts in a variety of colors and scents, and by using unique packaging and designs, they make terrific personalized gifts.
Recipe to Make Bath Salts
3 cups epsom salt
2 cups baking soda
1 cup table salt
Food or soap coloring
Scented essential oil
To Make Your Own Bath Salts
1. In a mixing bowl, mix espom salt, table salt, and baking soda.
2. When the dry ingredients are mixed, add drops of food or soap coloring (found in the soap making aisle at a craft store) until it is the desired color. Add a few drops of essential oil in the scent of your choice. Be careful not to add too much of the scented oil--a little goes a long way! Once your ingredients are all mixed together, your bath salts are complete!
Now, to Package Your Bath Salts...
You can put your bath salts in any cute air tight container. Here are a few ways that I've packaged them:
Place salts into clear bags and fold them over a few times at the top to make them air tight. Fold a piece of paper in half and slip the top of the plastic bag in between the two sides. Staple and place a label onto the top paper.
I used these small bottles that I found in the scrapbook supply aisle to package bath salts in for my child's teacher. I put a label on the front that said "Teacher's Time Out."
