Items You'll Need:

  • Large baking potatoes
  • Golf tees - orange, yellow, or tan (2 per potato)
  • Colored toothpicks (8 per potato)
  • Orange and red construction paper
  • Large googly eyes (2 per potato)
  • Place cards (homemade or purchased)
  • Glue

Directions:

1. Wash potatoes thoroughly (you wouldn't want dirty spuds on your dinner table!) and let them dry completely.

2. Insert two golf tees into the lower front of the potato. They need to be placed so that the "turkey" can sit up resting against them, and far enough apart to hold the place card.

3. Insert toothpicks around the sides/top of potato to create "feathers."

4. Cut a beak out of the orange construction paper, and a wattle out of the red construction paper. Glue them onto the face. Next glue the two googly eyes above the beak and wattle.

5. If you already have Thanksgiving place cards, simply rest them on the turkey's legs. If you'd like to make your own, it's easy! I used scrapbook and stock papers to create my own in the photo above.
