Small DIY Valentine Boxes

These are cute little do-it-yourself valentine boxes that you can make from the tube of an empty toilet paper or paper towel roll. They're perfect Valentines Day boxes for handing out treats in your classroom, or wrapping little Valentines Day gifts in!

Items You'll Need:
  • Empty toilet or paper towel tube
  • Tape or hot glue gun
  • Paint, stickers, name tags, etc. for decorating
  • Scissors
  • Items for inside (candy, small treasures, etc.)
  • Ruler
  • Small treat or sandwich bags (optional)

Directions:

1. Decide what size box you want, and trim the empty paper towel or toilet paper tube to your desired size. If you're going to paint your tube, this is the easiest time to do it (but it can be done later). In this example, I left my tube plain.

2. Measure across the opening of the end of the tube. Make a cut on the end the tube slightly shorter than that measurement. For example, if your tube measures 3 inches across, make your cut about 2.5-2.75 inches.

3. Make another cut of the same size directly across from your first cut. Do the same thing to the opposite end of the tube. Make sure the cuts line up with each other on each end. You should have four cuts when you're done (two on each end).

4. Cut down to the end of each slit to create a triangle shape out of each cut. Do this to all four cuts.

5. Fold over one "flap" and create a crease to keep it down. Fold the other "flap" over it to close the end. Tape or hot glue the flaps in place.

6 Put your Valentine's Day candy or small treats into the tube. I place mine in a small clear treat bag or sandwich bag, but that's totally up to you...you can just put it in the tube without the bag if you want to. Seal the other end.

Decorate your box with stickers, glitter, wrapping paper, scrapbook paper or embellishments, name tag, etc. Remember...this project isn't limited to Valentine's Day...use it whenever you have a small gift to wrap!
