My Website Success Story

My Website Success Story has been a long time in the making...and now that I've done it, I wish that I'd taken the leap of faith a lot sooner!

First, let me introduce myself. My name is Tiffany, and I am a WAHM (Work at Home Mom)--or "homemaker" as some may call it, but it sounds so old fashioned to me.

I met my "prince charming", Dan, in college. He was the chief of the ambulance corps. that I was an EMT in (yes, in case you are wondering, he was dating the help. It was a volunteer position, though, so I don't think that it counts...)! We've been married for 11 years now.

During this time, we have been blessed with four amazing children--2 boys and 2 girls. They are the finest little kids that any parents could ask for (okay, perhaps I am a little biased...)

Ethan, Camden, Mia, and Ava

THE PAST...

I received my Bachelor of Science from the Rochester Institute of Technology with a double major in Nutrition and Business Management (I realize that these are completely unrelated areas, but I am an eclectic kind of girl!).

After college I worked for a large New York payroll company in their 401(k) L&D department as a Loans and Distributions Specialist. I was stuffed into a tiny cubicle all day, talking to many angry clients ("No Mr. Smith, you cannot have a distribution of your 401(k) without a qualifying event...I'm sorry, but Christmas is not a qualifying event." You get the picture...). Outwardly I liked my job...it was a good job with nice benefits and pay. Inside, though, I felt bored. I felt confined. I felt stuck.

After two years in corporate America, our first son was born. I returned to work for five months, until I found out that our second son was on the way. I loathed the idea of missing out on our children growing up, so I took a giant step and left my full-time position to become a WAHM.

For several years I brought in a nice part time income selling children's clothing on Ebay. I still sell occasionally, but find myself with very little spare time with four kids under the age of nine (imagine that?). Which brings me to my current undertaking...this website.

THE PRESENT...

I am an entrepreneur through and through. My family always had their own businesses, and I grew up watching my parents create their future through hard work and determination. Do-It-Yourself-Gifts.com was born from the same hard work and determination.

As my free time decreased, and my demands increased, I began looking for an alternative way to make money from home and still be with my children. I poured over home-based business after business, but none of the MLM (Mulit-Level Marketing) style programs out there really "clicked" with me. I am just not an MLM type of person.

I came across some stories on the web of people who are "infopreneurs"...quite simply, they are selling little to nothing on their websites, only offering information about something that they're passionate about. They make money by placing a small amount of relevant advertising on their pages. This caught my attention, and I began researching all that I could on the topic.

I'd finally found the business that I'd been searching for, but I didn't have a lot of website building experience. I knew very basic html, and had only created a (very poor) website to display our adoption journal on when we adopted our daughter over five years ago. I needed to find something or someone that could "hold my hand" through the process.

After tons of research, I choose a collection of web building tools called Site Build It (SBI) because many of the most successful "info publishing" sites use them. They take care of submitting to search engines, keywords, brainstorming, profitability, hosting the site, my email account, etc., while I focus on writing content. The best part is, I didn't have to pull together different aspects of my web business...they offer it all in one place.

I purchased the Site Build It Tools, and haven't looked back since! I created this site about something that I am passionate about, and am having the time of my life! I love "going to work" on my couch with my laptop (or perhaps outside if it is a sunny day...), and writing articles about something I enjoy. The best part is, I am watching my little ones grow up, and have the FREEDOM to work in short increments during naptime or after they've gone to bed. If I don't feel like working one day, or have other obiligations, than I don't. It's as simple as that.

THE FUTURE...

Building a website is not a "get rich quick" scheme. It takes time and effort, but it will all come back to you many times. I'm excited about my future and where info publishing will take me. I look forward to creating more websites like this one, and hope that I have inspired you to do the same.

What are you interested in? Do you have a passion that you are knowledgeable about? Your area of interest might make a good informational website! If you are excited by the idea, check out these sites that were born out of the passions of regular people.

Pretty inspiring, don't you think? Whatever you decide to pursue, I wish you the best of luck and all the success that you desire.

My Relationship with SiteSell

I joined the SiteSell affiliate program because I strongly believe in the product, and I wanted to recommend SBI! to my family and friends.

I have no qualms about recommending SBI! to you. I know it actually works. If you sign up for SBI! through the links I've given you, you can start your own online business today, and I'll receive a small commission that helps to support this website.

Thank you in advance, and if you need help getting your new SBI! website started, just ask. I look forward to meeting you in the SBI! Forums!
